Looking down on Granton Square

This photo was taken from near the foot of the stairs that lead to the children's playground and housing immediately to the south of Granton Square.  There is an open outlook across Eastern Harbour to the island of Inchkeith, just visible in the background, behind the trees near the bus.

The large building on the eastern side of Granton Square in the two photographs above was once a hotel.  It is now HMS Claverhouse - 205 Scottish Field Hospital, a Royal Naval Reserve Sea Training Centre.

This photo was taken from a few yards further forward, on the southern edge of Granton Square.  The open area, straight ahead, on the northern side of Granton Square at the entrance to Middle Pier is soon to be developed.  The land has been cleared and piles are currently [July 2004] being driven into the ground.
