John Devlin was born in 1866 at 2 Maitland Street,
Newhaven.
In 1894, he married
Christina Forbes.
He lived at
1895: 27 Trinity Crescent,
Leith
1899: 8 Craighall Road
1905: 10, Maitland Street, Newhaven
1906: ? Lower Granton Road.
He became manager of T L Devlin's Aberdeen operation
in 1911.
He died on March 27, 1920,
while living at 62 Duthie Terrace, Aberdeen. He left an
estate of £242: 7s 9d. |

- Left home aged 15, during World War 1, and went to sea, serving on a minesweeper.
However,
John Stevenson has been able to find any record of his service in the
Royal Navy.
- Travelled to New Zealand, then settled in USA, where he met and
married a Scottish girl, Elizabeth Nixon Macmillan, who had come to the
USA from Glasgow with her family, a few years before him.
