Fairmilehead  -  Route 11

The Route

Fairmilehead is one of two termini at the southern end of Route 11 from Ocean Terminal, Leith.  The other southern terminus is at Hyvot's Bank in SE Edinburgh.

On Mondays to Saturdays, buses from Ocean Terminal go alternately to Hyvot's Bank and to Fairmilehead.  On Sundays, they all go to Hyvot's Bank.

The Photo

This photo was taken at 2.25pm on Christmas Eve, 2009.  It looks to the south down Biggar Road.  The bus on Route 11 is waiting to depart from Fairmilehead terminus, on the western side of Biggar Road, beside the Fairmile Inn.  The inn is just out of the picture on the right.  It closed some time ago and is now a rather sad sight.

All the lamp posts on the left-hand side of this photo are at the two roundabouts where Biggar Road crosses the City of Edinburgh By-pass.
