Route 35

Route 35 runs from Ocean Terminal, beside the Firth of Forth at Leith, to Edinburgh Airport.   Here is a bus on Route 35 waiting to depart from Ocean Terminal.

Buses on Route 35 do not take the most direct route to the airport.  They go via the Royal Mile, Slateford and Edinburg Park.

Choice of Routes

Journey times for Route 35 from Ocean Terminal to Edinburgh Airport are about 80 minutes, compared to 25 minutes for Route 100, the direct Airlink service that operates between the centre of Edinburgh and Edinburgh Airport..

Here are two buses waiting at Waverly Bridge on Route 100:

New Trams

It was planned that Edinburgh's new trams would link Newhaven with Edinburgh Airport, and that Ocean Terminal would be the first stop on the route from Newhaven.  The trams were due to start running in 2011.

However, now at October 2011, following delays and higher costs than expected, the route has been curtailed.  The only part of the route currently under construction is from  St Andrew Square to the airport.  Trams are now expected  to start running on that part of the route some time in 2014.
