Roslin Station

The line to Glencorse

Loanhead lies about 7 miles to the south of the centre of Edinburgh.

Stations on this line were:

-  Waverley

-  Portobello

-  Niddrie

-  Millerhill

-  Gilmerton

-  Loanhead

-  Roslin

-  Glencorse

Roslin was in the coal mining area to the south of Edinburgh.  Roslin had its own colliery.

 

Roslin Recollections

Thank you to Kerry Alexander, Gracemount, Edinburgh, who wrote:

"I was brought up in Roslin.  My parents still live in the same house that we moved to in 1971.  The the old railway was my playground.

Passenger trains stopped running in 1930s, but coal was still transported until late '60s."
