Smeaton

Smeaton lies close to  the River Esk, about two miles to the south of Musselburgh.

-  The line to the north from Smeaton led towards the East Coast Main Line, joining it close to Inveresk, near Musselburgh.

-   The line to the south from Smeaton split into two:

-  one, heading east, led to Macmerry and Gifford.

-   the other, heading south, led to Hawick.
