Looking East
Thank you to Stuart
Guild, Edinburgh for sending me two photos of Shandwick Place, both taken in
1955 as
the old tram lines were being lifted.
The photograph above looks to the
east towards the West End of Princes Street. It was taken from
the junction of Shandwick Place and western end of Coates Crescent. The houses in the
background are in Atholl Crescent.

* Stuart is referring, here, to
the ongoing preparations for the new tram system in Edinburgh linking Leith to
Edinburgh Airport. These preparations have disrupted traffic in the
Shandwick Place area in for several months recently.
