Here is a photo of a
lamp post that sits in the garden of a
house on the corner of Greenbank Grove and
Greenbank Road. From time to time I
have noticed similar Lamp Posts in gardens throughout
I have a vague recollection that these Lamp
Posts were presented for some form of civic
service to Edinburgh, long serving Councillors etc. Is

I am pretty sure, from looking at it that this
was originally a Gas Street Lamp, although there
is a bulb sitting on the base of the lantern housing.
