Herriot Hill Terrace
Neighbours
"I had a very happy childhood living on the top
landing of no. 28. Heriot Hill Terrace (or Heriot Hell, as we called it for
fun).
We looked directly over to the Neilsons - two
girls, one was Anne, I'm sure.
We looked
diagonally to the Duncan's flat. I remember Jim Duncan and his family,
a sister and another brother. "
Games
"I have many happy memories of playing Cowboys and
Indians in
The Sandies and going to the children's matinee at the Ritz Cinema on
Saturday mornings, and lots if memories of Eyre Place swing park etc.
My brother Robert was born in 1950 and I was born in
1948. We went to Canonmills Primary School until it suddenly closed down."
Emigration
"I did my nursing training at the Western General
Hospital from 1966 until 1969, then emigrated to Australia. I came home to
Heriot hill several times until my mum, Mary, passed away in 2005. I now
stay with my brother and his wife at Tollcross when I come back to Edinburgh."
Recollections of Heriot HIll
"I now live in Wagga Wagga, NSW, Australia. I'
would love to chat about our childhoods to any of you who lived in Heriot Hill.
Cheers from Margie Walsh."
