Regent Bridge, in the centre
of this photo, takes Waterloo Place across Calton Road.
Waterloo Place
leads to the east from the East End of Princes Street, and
passes beneath the southern slopes of
Calton
Hill.
Calton Road is the old road
from Leith Street to Low Calton, where
Trinity Church could be found before it was demolished to
allow the railway into Waverley Station to be built.
I was not able to take a photo
showing the whole arch of Regent Bridge, as appears in the
engraving of 1829, due to the building material being stored
under the bridge in connection with the rebuilding of the
GPO.
