Edinburgh
Festival Cavalcade marks the start of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe each
year. The parade began at 2.30pm on Sunday 8 August
2004.

The
procession started at the foot of Cockburn Street, crossed Waverley
Bridge towards Princes Street, then turned left to the West
End of Princes Street and back along Kings Stables Road towards the
Grassmarket.
The
procession took 90 minutes to pass. It included Harley Davidson
motor cycles, performers from the
Edinburgh Tattoo, performers from Edinburgh Festival Fringe shows and
commercial floats.
The photos
on this site for 2004 are all of
Waverley Bridge.
Only the western side of the bridge was used by the procession this year;
Barriers were erected down the middle of the road to allow access to
Waverley Station, so it was not possible to repeat the photos taken in
2003 when the whole of
the bridge was used.
