The Meadows Festival
The Meadows Festival has been held annually since
1975, except for a 2-year gap in 2006 and 2007. It now returns in
2008.
The organisers of the 2008 festival write:
"The Meadows Festival is a long running
community event starting afresh this year, with a wide variety of
entertainment, from bands and other music, to a juniors football
competition.
There are stalls with antiques, small
furniture and Bric-a-brac, Fair Trade (T-shirts, Children's clothes, toys,
small gifts, Indian, Thai & Nepalese clothes), Guatemalan jackets, bags,
vintage clothes, music memorabilia, records and CDs, new and second hand
books, knitwear, shoes and branded goods, jewellery, arts & crafts, fruit,
wine, food and plants.
Parking is very limited around the Meadows and
illegally parked vehicles have been ticketed or towed away before, so get
a bus, Lothian 41, 42, 23 or 27 or other buses to Tollcross or Clerk
Street, cycle or walk.
Funded by Awards for All, City of Edinburgh
Council and many local businesses and individuals, it is hoped that the
festival will bring together local communities for a fun day out!"
