West Princes Street Gardens

The annual 'Great Scottish Santa Run' - two laps of West Princes Street Gardens- was held on December 12, 2010.  There was still some snow on the ground, following two weeks of heavy snowfall and a two-day thaw.

I believe that this is about the 7th year that the event has been held in Princes Street Gardens.  (I first photographed the event in December 2004.)

Proceeds to Charity

Registration for the 'Great Scottish Santa Run' costs:

-  £10 for adults, including a free Santa Suit and medal.

-  £5 for children under 12 yrs, including free Elves hat and medal.

All proceeds from the event are to be donated to the children's charity, 'When you Wish Upon A Star'.

Participants were encouraged to seek sponsorship.  There were 800 participants dressed as Santas, and a bagpipe band from Canada, dressed as Santas.  Most participants walked the course, a few ran it, and a few completed part of the course on space hopper bouncy balls.
