Volume
2 of the Edinburgh Calotype Club, held by Edinburgh Central Library
contains 126 calotype photos, both landscapes and portraits.
Landscapes
in the album include views of Edinburgh and St Andrews, together with three
views of Lacock Abbey probably the work of William Henry Fox Talbot.
It
is not clear what connection Talbot had with the Calotype Club, but he is known
to have had extensive correspondence with Sir David
Brewster of St Andrews and to have sent examples of his work to Brewster in
the early 1840s. So perhaps a few
of these examples found their way into the Calotype Album.
