Research John Stevenson, local history and shipping history researcher, is compiling a list of the Leith Shipyards, their owners and when they operated. So far he has found well over a hundred shipyards. |

Question Do you know anything about any of the Leith shipyards, especially the smaller ones that had only a small workforce, and maybe were not in business for many years - such as the yard in Starbank Road, to the west of Starbank Inn, that operated for a few years during World War II? That yard was just beyond the Starbank Inn in the photo below. The photo is taken from an old postcard, published in the early-1900s.
