Leith Electric Trams

The last horse tram in Leith ran on 2 November 1905.

The first electric tram ran on 18 August 1905.

Passenger travelling on the two mile journey from Edinburgh to Leith had to change trams half way at Pilrig, because Edinburgh's cable system and Leith's electric system were not compatible with each other.

It was not until around 1920 that it became possible to complete this journey on a single tram.
