Philip E Low's studio was at Portobello, beside the sea.  He appears to have brought some of the donkeys from the seaside into his studio for photography.

Addresses on Cabinet Prints

Other addresses listed on the front of Philip E Low's cabinet prints are:

-  130 Leith Street, Edinburgh

-  26 Bath Street Portobello

-  Promenade, Broughty Ferry

-  Bathing Station, Aberdeen

I also have a cabinet print giving just one address for Philip E Low (and it is not an address that I have ever seen listed in the trade directories.  It is 144 St Stephen Street.  The street is at Stockbridge on the northern edge of Edinburgh New Town.

The cabinet print is not dated, but has a backdrop of the Forth Bridge.  The bridge was opened in 1891.  One of the subjects has been almost obliterated from the photo.  Perhaps they were not happy with their portrait on this occasion.
