Granton Gas Works Station

a Victorian Station Building

This building originally stood over the platform and over one of the tracks at Granton Gas Works Station.

It is now the only remaining building on this part of the Edinbrugh Waterfront site, a short distance to the south of the new Scottish Gas offices.

The first photograph looks to the south from the western end of Waterfront Avenue.  The second photograph is taken from a short distance further west and looks towards the south east.

The third photograph above looks down on the old Victorian station from the top floor of the Scottish Gas Works office.  The railway tracks and sidings used to extend to the north from the station and across the site where the new Scottish Gas offices have been built.

This photo was taken on the day that one of the gasometers was demolished in a controlled explosion.
