This photo of Newhaven Harbour and Fishwives was published in Amateur Photographer on 16 September 1892, about three months after the Photographic Convention of the United Kingdom visited Edinburgh and some of the delegates travelled to Newhaven with their cameras.

The lighthouse in the background of this picture still stands at the end of the eastern breakwater of Newhaven Harbour.

This photo was taken by FW Hindley with Fallowfield's "Myall" hand camera.
