Open Day

Each September, for many years, Edinburgh's Civic Trust, the Cockburn Association has organised a "Doors Open Day" in Edinburgh, allowing access to many buildings that are not normally open to the public.

In 2006, for the first time, the Cockburn Association, in partnership with Edinburgh World Heritage has organised an Edinburgh Parks and Gardens Open Day.

This is  to be held on Saturday May 6, 2006.  It is hoped that it will become an annual event in Edinburgh.

Edinburgh Parks and Gardens Open Day, in 2006, includes 41 parks and gardens in and around Edinburgh.  Many are not normally open to the public, including:

-   Forthquarter Park

    Forth Quarter Park  -  a new park under construction at Edinburgh Waterfront  -  2006 ©

-   Queen Street Gardens

-   Chessels Court

Other parks and gardens included in the "Edinburgh Parks and Gardens Open Day", such as:

Princes Street Gardens

are, in fact, open to the public throughout the year, but arrangements were made to provide special guided tours of these areas on May 6.
