Several of the
19th century monuments can still be found on Calton Hill.
But there were also other less
permanent buildings in the mid-nineteenth century. What is known of
these?
The early Edinburgh photographer,
James Ross, gave his address as Calton
Hill. Did he use one of the temporary structures?
There were exhibitions of statues and
