Photogrpahic Dealers AH Baird |
AH Baird was based at 15 Lothian Street. A report of items he exhibited at the Photographic Convention of the United Kingdom, held in Edinburgh in 1892 appeared in Amateur Photographer: "AH Baird, of 15, Lothian Street, EDINBURGH makes a special show of the Lothian universal plummet, a giant model of this demonstrating its action; the Lothian hand-camera; combined lantern slide masks and binders, etc.; the Todd-Forrest magnesium flash-lamp, and Mr F Dundas Todd's picture of "The Village Smithy" which won our Silver Medal, taken by the same. A magnificent photo-micrographic camera 10 ft. long, specially made for the Photographic Company of St Bernard's Row, Edinburgh is also on view." [Amateur Photographer: 22 Jul 1892] |

photography in Edinburgh in
The Photographic
Journal. [The Photographic Journal, 1 April 1892,
p.105] He ended his article saying: "The dealers are dull, but several have spring novelties in hand. The Todd-Forrest flasher came late but has sold in immense numbers Energetic Mr Baird, Lothian Street, will try to take the lead this season," |
The Practical Photographer listed AH Baird's exhibits at the 1892 Photographic Convention of the UK as being: - the Todd- Forrest flash lamp - the "Lothian" plummet - a useful combined mask and binder for lantern slides |
