George Oman and Mary Ann Rutherford "In November 1867, George Oman and Mary Ann Rutherford were married at 2 Stafford Street, Edinburgh. On his marriage certificate, George was described as a Master Photographer. He was already living in Hawick. His wife, Mary Ann, had been a domestic servant in Rose Street, round the corner. The house she lived in was No. 198, with "1793" above the door. It is still there." |

Nine Children George and Ann had nine children, eight girls and a boy. The first girl was born on October 30 1868 and died of burns at age two and a half. The only boy died at the age of 3 weeks.
