Waterfront Avenue

A New Road

Waterfront Avenue is a new road that runs north-east through the Waterfront from West Harbour Road (near the old lighthouse) past Saltire Square to join West Granton Road  near the site where the new Telford College buildings are being constructed.

Saltire Square is a new square close to the centre of the Edinburgh Waterfront site.  The square, and Waterfront Avenue, were opened in June 2004.

The 1st photograph above is taken looking to the east along West Harbour Road, towards the lighthouse.  This area became the junction with Waterfront Avenue.

The 2nd photograph above shows the same area as photo 1, but looking to the south.  It was taken from Chestnut Street, and shows an early stage of the construction of Waterfront Avenue.

The brick building seen in photo 1 remains, but the white building in front of it has been demolished to make way for the entrance into Waterfront Avenue
