Alina Kisina Ukrainian Artist Photographer Dr Pat Simpson, School of Art & Design, University of Leicestershire, writes: "... Kisina's images are rather hauntingly beautiful. On the one hand they seem to engage with a general human theme of memory - how blurred and selective it is and the ambivalent nuances of nostalgia that go with it. ... On the other hand they seem to refer to the post Soviet context and issues of lost/disrupted cultural identity, cultural displacement and a different yet equally ambivalent nostalgia for the certainties of the past." |
