Delegates

It was reported that quite a number of delegates to the  Convention in Edinburgh in 1892arrived by sea from London, travelling by SS Seaman

... having come up from London by water, all reporting a delightful trip full of photographic incident and interest for the hand camera men who found themselves busy, especially when the captain, who took quite a fatherly interest in the proceedings of the cameraists, brought his ship in close to the Bass Rock, and sounded his steam whistle to fetch the birds out from its sides.

Some of the party, partly with a view to quayside studies in the morning, and partly lest they should shock the susceptibilities of the "unco guid" by arriving on a Sunday, elected to remain on board the night ...

Over 250 delegates attended the Convention.  Ninety members participated in the first excursion to Melrose and Dryburgh Abbeys.  The other excursions were also well attended.
