The Low Family

Thank you to Sharon Lorraine Smith for posting a message in the EdinPhoto guest book telling me more about the Low family of photographers.

Sharon wrote:

"My great-great-grandfather was Peter Claude Low."

Grandmother

"My Grandmother was Lilly Florence Low.  She was born in 1901 and passed away in 1966.  She was a real character.  I love her dearly.  She played a huge part in my life.  I have a number of photos of her when she was on stage.

She never married, but had two children.  They were  my mother, Melody Mary Low, and my uncle Edward Peter Low who goes by the name of Peter ** Low.

Lily moved from South Africa to New Zealand to be with her bother, my great uncle, Claude ** Low.  I have a number of photos taken by Claude  and his over-sized business cards.  I also have photos of him and his wife, May."

Photographers

**  Claude and Peter were two of the photographers who had studios in Edinburgh in the 19th century.

There were also:

-  Thomas Low
-  Philip Ernest Low
-  Messrs Low
-  Mrs Mary Low.

I don't know if and how any of these were related to Claude and Peter
