Carte de Visite

Cartes de visite are small photographs mounted on card measuring about 3.5 ins x 2.25 ins.

Here are is an early carte de visite.  It comes from the the studios of McGlashon & Walker.

The book and top hat beside the sitter, and the small lettering for the studio name and address on the back of the carte de visite,  are typical of the early-1860s, when this photo would have been taken.
