This postcard above looks towards Calton Hill.  Rock House is towards the lower-left corner of the photo.  This postcard is in Alexander G Anderson's Holmes Real Photographic Series.

Other postcards in the Holmes Real Photographic Series had the same sky added to them.  In each one, the sun was straight ahead, no matter which way the shadows were facing!
