William Crooke,
in December 1910 began his
tour of the USA
with Walter Barnett. They met many photographers during this tour.
The
photograph below is one that they presumably left for their hosts when
they visited Chicago. It was found recently, in a trunk in the attic
of Mrs Gibson studio. Mrs Gibson has a prominent portrait studio in Chicago.
Mrs
Gibson knew MJ Steffens and other early Chicago studio photographers who
are likely to have met Crooke on his tour.
