The Carte de visite above is from Marshall Wane's studio in
Douglas, Isle of Man.
Marshall Wane won many awards in the 1870s, but the carte
de visite above lists only three awards, the latest being in 1871 so it it
seems likely that the card was produced in the early 1870s, several years
before Marshall Wane set up his studio in Edinburgh. |

Above is an
attractive carte de visite of two children, from the studio of
Marshall Wane, 82 George Street, Edinburgh.
This carte de visite is not from my own collection. I
don't know the style of the back or the date of the photo, but the yellow
surround and slightly raised surface on the front suggest to me that it
may be one of his later cartes de visite, perhaps from the 1890s.
