Buttercup Poultry Farm

Thank you to Bill Scott for allowing me to reproduce the photograph taken in the back garden of East Lodge at Buttercup Poultry Farm in 1955.

Bill wrote:

"The bins in the Anderson Shelter contain grain and mash to feed the hens."

This is one of several photos of the farm that Bill colourised in 2007-08.

Here is a view of part of the farm and some of the farm buildings.

Buttercup Dairy Co

Buttercup Poultry Farm sold their produce through their chain of Buttercup Dairy Co shops in and around Edinburgh.  At one time the farm had a daily output of 110,000 eggs.                  [Bill Scott, Alnwick, Northumberland, England:  February 3, 2009]

Bill tells me that his book has now been published and is likely to be reviewed within the next few days in 'The Scotsman' or 'Scotland on Sunday'.
