The site of the former Scottish & Newcastle Bottling Plant

Plans Announced

North Fountainbridge is the site where the Scottish & Newcastle beer kegging used to be situated.  It is on the northern side of the road, Fountainbridge, beside the Fountain Park leisure complex.

The developers plan to build at North Fountainbridge:

-  650 new houses and 160,000 sq ft of office accommodation

-  2 boulevards linking Fountainbridge with the West Approach Road.

If a new Boroughmuir High School in needed in the next ten years, it may also be built on this site.

Plans Approved

It was announced in January 2006 that Edinburgh City planners have approved a £200m scheme for this site and that the scheme is expected to be given official during the week beginning January 9, 2006. 

The scheme is being proposed by a consortium involving developers AMA (New Town) Ltd, Grosvenor and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Proposals in the scheme are for:

-  160,000 sq ft of offices, shops and business units.

-  a mini-supermarket, a nursery and a hotel

-  a new public park, tree-lined roads, pedestrian and cycling routes

-  underground parking for almost 500 vehicles
