EPS Outing Cadzow Forest - 1877 |
|
EPS staged a major Photographic Exhibition at the RSA National Galleries in December 1876. This encouraged members to buy the latest equipment. The first EPS Outing on which they were able to use this equipment was the trip to Cadzow Forest on 12 April 1877. It was reported that there were 13 cameras in the field, including those of Mr Panton, Mr Annan of Glasgow and Thomas Carmichael.

Comment in the British Journal of Photography - 2 The BJP later reported on the Edinburgh Photographic Society Meeting held on 2 May 1877, giving the following report of photographs taken at the Outing to Cadzow Forest. "A number of very fine examples of the work done at the outdoor meeting in Cadzow Forest were then shown by Messrs Annan, Panton, Pringle, Mathieson, Sinclair, &c., &c. Mr Annan, who had worked wet collodion, showed some brilliant pictures - groups both of men and cattle. The cattle of both Messrs Panton and Pringle, from dry plates, were also first rate."
