Camera Corps
30
April 1898
This
was the first run of the EPS Cycling Camera Corps. The
Committee announced:
"All
Members and friends will be welcome to attend the runs [of the
EPS Cycling Camera Corps] which will be of a very reasonable
length to enable ladies to take part in them, and will be
through as picturesque country as the proposed Committee can
select."
"Each
Member, it is hoped will bring a camera - either hand or stand -
but of course this is not compulsory, although it is hoped that
the main object for which the corps is being formed will receive
due attention viz.,
the carrying of a camera by means of the cycle."
The
first run was described as:
"
not of great length, as doubtless most Members will not be
in the best of muscular training by the end of April - viz.,
Saturday, 30 April."
The
run was about 20 miles. Members met at Craigleith Station, Queensferry Road, at 2.30
pm, cycled to Queensferry and back via Kirkliston. Tea was
served at Queensferry. |
