EPS Outing

Dirleton - 1882

The EPS annual picnic in 1882 was held at Dirleton on Tuesday 6 July.

The British Journal of Photography reported:

"The party, numbering nearly seventy ladies and gentlemen, representatives being present from Glasgow, Hawick, Liverpool &c. and ... ... after lunch visited the gardens and grounds of Dirleton Castle, where five operators set to work and took views of the various points of interest, as well as views of the whole party, which were accomplished under favourable conditions."

"After dinner the company assembled in one of the parks, and a umber of races and walking matches were competed for, with suitable prizes for each.  A blindfold barrow race afforded much amusement to all present."

"After tea the party joined the train at Dirleton station at seven pm, having spent a very enjoyable day of varied amusements."
