Blackford Hill is one of  Edinburgh's seven hills.  It is the home of the Royal Observatory and Visitor Center.

It lies about two miles to the south of the centre of Edinburgh.  It is 538ft high with views in all directions.

This view looks to the north-east across the suburbs of the Grange and Newington towards Arthur Seat (823 ft high) in Queen's Park, about two miles away.  The Firth of Forth can be seen in the background.

TO THE NORTH:  Bishop Hill, East Lomond, West Lomond
                           all in Fife - distance approx 20-25 miles.

TO THE EAST:     Bass Rock, North Berwick Law, Traprain Law
                           all in East Lothian - distance approx 20 miles.

TO THE SOUTH-EAST:  Moorfoot Hills, Blackhope Scar
                                     all towards the Borders - distance approx 10-15 miles.

TO THE NORTH-WEST:  Ben Ledi, Ben Venue, Ben Lomond
                                     all in the Highlands - distance approx 50-60 miles)
