This view from the Scott Monument looks along the East End of Princes Street with Calton Hill in the distance. The buildings in the upper right were replaced by the North British Station Hotel, now The Balmoral Hotel. In the centre of the picture the long narrow staircase down to the station can be seen. This image is part of a stereo pair. It is similar to the centre of the long image. But the shades above the windows on the shops at the left are open on the stereo photos and open on the long long image. The two images that make up this stereo pair were not taken simultaneously.
