Almost all the photos on this page come from a collection that was held by the family of
Horatio Ross.
The hunting, shooting and fishing scenes are very similar to photographs exhibited by
Horatio Ross (1801-86) at the Photographic Society of Scotland's Exhibitions and other
exhibitions in the 1850s
I believe that three of the photos above, Nos 10, 11 and 12, were taken
by Horatio Ross, or set up by him.
The remainder appear to be from
early in the 20th century. Most or all may have been taken by Mrs
Horatio Ross, possibly the wife of one of the grandchildren of Horatio
Ross (1801-86). Can identify any of the people,
locations or photographers, or can you estimate when the photos might have been taken? If
so, please email me.
Thank you.
