Photographic Society of Scotland

John Moffat joined the Photographic Society of Scotland in 1865 and joined Edinburgh Photographic Society in 1863.  

1st PSS Exhibition, Dec 1856

John Moffat's entered nine collodion photographs in the 1st PSS Exhibition; one was coloured.  Seven of these wore portraits of Doctors or Professors.

2nd PSS Exhibition, Dec 1857

John Moffat's entered collodion portraits in the 2nd PSS Exhibition.  They were slightly touched.  

His entry included a photograph of "A Sun-beaten Countenance of Dr. Livingstone".

4th PSS Exhibition, Dec 1859

John Moffat exhibited:

- 2 frames of wet collodion stereoscopic views at 1/- each

- 1 frame of wet collodion stereoscopic views at 1/3d each

- 1 frame of untouched prints from collodion negatives 

5th PSS Exhibition, Dec 1859

John Moffat exhibited seven frames of photographs:

- Frame 1   - Fifteen untouched collodion portraits, including:

-  Right Hon WE Gladstone MP

-  Sir David Brewster, Principal of Univ. of Edinburgh

-  Various Lords and Professors

- Frame 2  -  Carte de visite portraits  (collodion)

- Frame 3  -  Stereoscopic views of Scotland (wet collodion)

- Frame 4  -  Moderators of the Free Church of Scotland Assembly

- Frame 5  -  Portrait of Lord Ardmillan (collodion coloured)

- Frame 6  -  Portraits (collodion coloured)
