The National Galleries An Underground Link |

An underground link between the Royal Scottish Academy and the National Gallery of Scotland is being created. There will be a circular glass lift, and access from a concourse area overlooking Princes Street Gardens, together with new educational and visitor facilities. In the artist's impression in view 1 (above) the new access to the galleries can be seen in the centre of the picture immediately above the grass area. The grass area has been used as a putting green in the summer and an ice skating rink in the winter. View 2 (below) also shows the proposed extension, but this view is from the south with an outline of the Princes Street buildings in the background. |
