Yerbury is the son of David Stenhouse Yerbury.

Howe Street Studio
After seventy-three years working from Morningside Road in the South of
Edinburgh, the company moved back to a more central base in Howe Street in 1976,
but remained there for less than ten years.
Soon after his
father’s death, the Yerbury studio was closed and Trevor began to work from home,
advertising in 1990:

Edinburgh Studio
Yerbury studios, opened again in the 1990s.
The company expanded rapidly, specialising in wedding
and portrait photography.
The company
traded as Yerbury of Edinburgh, from their four-story studio at East Claremont
Street in Edinburgh's New Town.
However,
in 2003 Trevor and
Faye Yerbury closed their East Claremont Street studio and moved to West Lothian
in order to spend more time on their creative photography.

Exhibitions

2002
and
2003
Citizens
In 2002, Trevor & Faye
Yerbury created an exhibition of their photographs of the people of
Edinburgh, under the title: "Citizens".
A similar exhibition is
being staged this year at Ocean Terminal, Leith Docks. It
features 160 portraits of Edinburgh characters by Trevor and Faye
Yerbury. This exhibition has been titled:
"Citizens II"
Each the above exhibitions was seen by at
least 700,000 visitors. |
2004
Images of Edinburgh
Here are a couple of views of Edinburgh with an
impressionistic feel. created by Trevor and Faye Yerbury from original
polaroid material.
These are included (together with some old Yerbury
images 1850-1950) in an exhibition of Yerbury photographs in an exhibition
at the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre at Leith Docks in August 2004.

2004
Scottish Crafts
Trevor Yerbury has been invited to produce a "Citizens
III" exhibition for 2004. He intends to create
images for this by travelling around Scotland photographing Scottish
characters and country crafts.
This could go on to
become a travelling exhibition around Scotland.
Trevor hopes to
photograph 300 people. It will be interesting to see the
results.

2005
Tartan Sofa
Trevor Yerbury plans to photograph people sitting on a tartan sofa
at landmarks around Scotland, beginning in Ullapool May 2004.
Trevor and Faye Yerbury
plan to include the photographs in an exhibition to be staged during
the Edinburgh Festival, 2005, then to tour around Scotland.
Much of Trevor's work
has been black and white, but all photos in this series will be
taken in colour.

photographs, 'nude city women', are to be displayed on the walls of
the Greenhouse Hotel, part of the Omni Building, Greenside Place,
when the hotel opens in June 2003. |

Leaving Edinburgh

House and Studio For Sale
Trevor Yerbury announced, in May 2003, that he had was selling
his home/studio at East Claremont Street, and planned to move with
his wife to the South of France, Spain or the Scottish Highlands.
Both intend to leave their commercial, social photography behind
them, and to pursue more creative photography. Trevor hopes to
produce a book of Scottish seascape pictures. [Edinburgh Evening News: 22

There was also a Yerbury Studio in Aberdeen, but
I heard recently that it closed, probably during Spring 2003. |
