The Playfair Project

Restoration

The photograph above was taken in August 2002 from Hanover Street.  It shows the frontage of the Royal Scottish Academy facing onto Princes Street.  Princes Street appears in the foreground of the picture.

The building here is draped in preparation for the Playfair Project renovation work, the first stage of which is due to be completed in summer 2003.

The picture on the front, beneath the statue of Queen Victoria, is Sir Walter Scott wearing a 'hard hat'.  Unfortunately the wind and rain soon damaged the sheeting on the front of the gallery.
