Edinburgh Photographic Society has met on Wednesday evenings, ever since the society was founded in 1861.  Meetings are held at 68 Great King Street, commencing 7.30pm from October to April each year.

An Exhibition is held in the society's premises each August during the Edinburgh Festival.  Here is the Entry Form for the 2012 Exhibition.  Closing date for Entries is 22 June 2012.

The PAGB is an alliance of Photographic Societies throughout Britain.  The link above will take you to a page on the PAGB site that lists the areas of Britain within the PAGB.  By clicking on one of these areas, you should find a list of photographic societies and their web sites in that area.

  • Photographic Collectors' Club of Great Britain  (PCCGB)

This society caters mainly for collectors of old cameras and equipment.  The society journals are informative.  The society holds photographic fairs, meetings and auctions around Britain.   Its web site has links to other web sites of interest to photo-historians.

The Royal Photographic Society has a long and distinguished history, and a world-wide membership.  It offers distinctions (FRPS, ARPS and LRPS) and has a number of special interest groups.  The RPS web site has links to many other web sites relating to photography.

This society has been meeting in Edinburgh since 1821, and has been discussing photography since 1839.  Another lecture on photography is to be held on 14 October 2002.
