Restoration

The photograph above was taken on 8 April 2003 from East Princes Street Gardens, looking towards the National Galleries at the Foot of The Mound.

The National Gallery of Scotland features prominently in this picture.   Edinburgh Castle is just visible in the background, on the right hand side of the picture.

Construction work can be seen on the wall that currently separates the galleries from East Princes Street Gardens.  The entrance to the new underground link between the two Playfair galleries, currently under construction as part of the Playfair Project, is to be created here. 

Part of the newly created underground space beneath the Royal Scottish Academy can be seen at the lower-right corner of the picture.
