Top
40 Pages
Again, this month, I found no great variation in the 'Top 40'
pages. Half the pages changed by no more than two positions.
The 'What's New' and 'Maps' pages tended to drift down the chart
this month.

The total number of sessions during
October 2010 was
446,602,
a 21% increase on the number of sessions during
September 2010.

Search Engines
The fairly steady number of visitors to the site from hour to
hour that I have been used to seems to have changed a
little. There are now more peaks for what appear to be random hours during
the day.
This increased
level of activity may well be due to more search engines trawling the site.
However, I'm still finding that about 89% of the visitors who come to the site
from search engines hae come through Google.
Incidentally
the site has had page ranking of '6' from Google for several years, but
recently I noticed that this seems to have changed to '5'. Perhaps I
should think about doing something to try to get it back to '6'. But I
really don't need any more visitors as I'm not trying to sell anything,
and it's taking most of my spare time to keep up to date with the emails that
are coming to me in connection with the web site.

Matrixstats
The stats above come from Matrixstats, a service provided by
FastHosts, the company that hosts my web site.
I don't know
for how much longer I'm going to be able to continue using Matrixstats. It
is beginning to take a long time to get some of the results form Matrixstats,
with the service frequently timing out when I try to download results from it.

Alexa
I'm also
collecting stats from Alexa.
I believe that these stats are biased in favour of the web searching activity of
other Alexa users, most based in USA.
There has been
little change in the Alexa results in recent years. They continue to show
EdinPhoto as being about:
- the
390,000th most visited site (worldwide)
- the
34,000thth most visited site (for visitors from the UK). |
