The BJP Almanac first appeared as a wall calendar for the year 1860, issued as a supplement to the British Journal of Photography of Dec 15 1859.

From 1861 to 1865 the BJP Almanacs were issued gratuitously to Journal Subscribers.

From 1866, the BJP Almanacs were sold as separate publications.
