A Conversazione was held in the
Library-Hall of Edinburgh University on 8 October 1863. About 3,000
ladies and gentlemen were present, including Prince Albert.
Each of about 24 recesses around the hall was
filled with exhibits: Anatomy, Botany, Chemistry, Geology, etc.
Photography filled two recesses.
Exhibits were provided by Edinburgh Photographic Society and included:
- landscape and portrait lenses from 1 ins to 6 ins.
- a complete set of photographic chemicals
- transparencies of the city and principle objects of interest in
the vicinity.
- a photograph of a spectrum in its natural colours by Becquerel,
deposited by Sir David Brewster |
