making arrangements for the Open Exhibition this year, the Council
decided to insist on light mounts and the standard sizes laid down by
the Royal Photographic Society to which this Society is affiliated”

"It
behoves the photographer, having perceived an artistic truth, not to bungle
the utterance of it, but to shout it out for all to hear. Several
cases were instanced in which the artists, although not devoid of a sense of
beauty and perception of truth, had been uncertain of their message.
There
had been wavering and wobbling in their exposition of it, and the truth was
hedged about with such a mass of irrelevant matter that it could not be
discerned. One or two prints
received favourable attention until their titles were studied.
The
photographer who misnames his print gives himself away.
He shows that he has missed the truth, and no commendation is
due to the man who has uttered a truth in ignorance."
