EPS
1962
Open Exhibition
The
Centenary Exhibition
The
Centenary International
Exhibition was held from August 1962 until September 1962.
It included:
-
an exhibition
of 50 prints from the RPS Permanent Collection
-
a brief history of EPS prepared by Robert M Strathdee. It was
originally hoped that this would be published as a separate booklet, but the
cost was found to be quite prohibitive.
9581 catalogues were sold. Whilst this is not an all-time record it was good enough to
result in a surplus of £224.
Judges’
comments
"As
this is purely a pictorial exhibition a number of very good record prints
were necessarily rejected, but a number of news pictures were selected
because they were also pictorial, and viewer will find them very lively and
interesting.
There
was also a big entry of prints by experimental processes such as tone
separation which are now becoming very popular." |
